Every two weeks a quiz competition is organized in the different groups in order to work with the kids on letter names and their sounds.

With the help of the teachers from 'the Key of Education' we are teaching our teachers how to achieve better results with the children's English

An update from our headteacher Samuel on the teaching methods. They are working hard to study English language !!

Given the logistical challenges involved in opening the school, we are forced to travel by helicopter deep into the jungle. It does provide us with very beautiful aerial images of our school as well as memories the locals will never forget !

Ghanaian culture very much revolves around village leaders and other important people who are highly respected. No one escapes the official greetings and ceremonies associated with these. Very nice to experience though !

Ahead of the official opening of the school, we were immersed in a thanksgiving ceremony in traditional dress. The ceremony included a lot of prayers of thanks and being crowned 'king and queen' of development cooperation. Quite an honour for us !

As is the custom in Africa, the enrolment of children in the new school is accompanied by convivial bustle and chaos. Everyone wants to receive their backpacks and pencil bags as soon as possible !

The day after the school's official opening, children line up with their parents to register. Not only children from 'our' village but also from neighbouring villages are waiting impatiently.

As you can see, Ghanaian children love cameras ! Laughing, dancing or making funny faces they do with great pleasure as long as you have your mobile phone nearby !

At the end of our visit, we would still like to take a look at a water infrastructure already in place in a neighbouring village. After all, we want to get a better idea of the projects that are still in the future to be realised.

The party weekend is coming to an end and it is time to leave our village again. The director would like to take a group photo of all the children with the helicopter as it should definitely have a place in his office !

Even before the festivities for the opening of the school can start, we are obliged to step and dance along in a merry parade throughout the village. Quite an experience for us!

80 individual desks arrived today at the school. By our Belgian standards, they look highly uncomfortable but everyone is happy with them anyway. Surely this is more comfortable than just sitting on the ground.

We decided to send the people of Kyirimankane an e-mail because we want them to respect the school materials (and not steel the computers or TV .... ) . The head teachers reads out our e-mail for all the people of the village.

The new school uniforms are a great success. Once again, we get a video in which the children express their thanks to us through a dance. Thank you children!

It is so nice to receive nice videos from our school every now and then ! Here you can see the start of an average morning with lots of dancing and music. So nice all the same !
